Joel Gott Chardonnay Monterey 2007
wa # 157 02/05 The 2001 Cinq Cepages is an outstanding effort, although not up to the quality of the terrific examples made in the mid-nineties. A dark ruby/purple color is followed by an elegant nose of cranberries, cherries, red and black currants, smoke, and herbs. This elegant, medium to full-bodied 2001 is ideal for drinking over the next 12-13 years.

Believe me, you won't miss the oak barrel influence on this wine. It's so good all by itself. Brightened with crisp Monterey acidity and totally dry, it's rich in pineapple, tangerine, Meyer lemon, lime, mineral and vanilla flavors that will satisfy your Chardonnay tooth.
You may know him as the "Zin master," but Joel Gott's favorite wine is actually his 2006 Chardonnay! Crisp and clean, this 100% stainless steel fermented wine sees absolutely no oak, preserving the purity of the zesty, fresh fruit and natural acidity of the grape. Citrus, pear and tropical notes coupled with a hint of jasmine - the beautiful brilliance of this wine is perfect for banishing the winter blues!
The Chardonnay exhibits aromas of citrus peel, mineral, pear and melon. The flavors are well balanced between clean crisp fruit and sweet oak.
