Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon California Blend 815 2008
Chocolate on the nose. The wine has a smooth, rich and supple body. Anise flavors and dusty tannins on the nose. Nice supple body
Full bodied but not too heavy for summer - one of my favorite cabernets.
phenomenal cab for the price point of below $20. While the 2008 is very good, I was even more impressed with the 2007 vintage (4 stars) that I bought the entire lot at my grocery store. the 2008 is very approachable but would probably be better to drink 2012 -2015 on the nose: black cherries, black currants, black raspberries on mouth: big fruit, soft tannins
Good "sipping on the patio cab" as opposed to a "good steak cab".
I think this wine has all the good flavor of a very good cab. but that tannins for me is the negative side . I like to keep the wine in my mouth to pick up flavors and that tanning is just to much for me, maybe is good for you..give it a taste.
I am not a wine connoisseur but this wine made me finally understand the different nuances of flavor. I was so taken by the diverse flavors that I had to look up the ingredients. Sure enough there was the fruity berry cherry taste along with the spicy vanilla taste followed by the chocolate taste that stayed in my mouth. It is the most delightful wine I have ever tasted. I bought four bottles that day and the 815 was the best. Thank you for producing such a great wine.

Joel Gott makes great wineshellip; period. It doesnrsquo;t seem to matter what they sell for, as they always seem to taste more expensive. The 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon displays traits that you can only usually count on finding in $30 plus wines, and the elegance and balance it displays are rare at this price.
Big and powerful with loads of new oak. Tannins are softened by a rich, chocolaty smoothness and the juicy, ripe character of the grapes. Flavors of currants, black cherry and blackberry are broad, leaving little room for other complexities mdash; just pure, hedonistic fruit.
Another winner from winemaker Joel Gott. The 2003 Cabernet is made from fruit sourced from four appellations (Napa, Sonoma, Mendicino and Lodi), a winning combination that Gott has used in his normal Zinfandel bottling. The perfectly ripe fruit has the classic purple and ruby hues and aromas and flavors of cassis and blackberry. And the wine is all about a balance between ripe, silky tannins and fruit that is forward without being overripe and prunish. The moniker ldquo;Blend 815rdquo; marks the birth of Joelrsquo;s daughter on August 15, 2003, just before the busy harvest season.
The outstanding, opaque purple-colored 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Gott 8, a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot, offers up abundant aromas of sweet black currant fruit intermixed with hints of mocha, white chocolate and spice. The 2009 Joel Gott Pelkan Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of black currant and fresh-picked blackberries. Sweet tannins lead to balanced acidity on the mid-palate with a lingering finish.
Sun-drenched California grapes bursting with a balance of warm cherry cola, cassis and cool vanilla spice flavors. Dense aromatic fruit lies softly on the palate, enhanced with a velvety texture that culminates in a bittersweet mocha finish. Good wine for the money. So let the good times roll and pop a cork when you can.
