phenomenal cab for the price point of below $20. While the 2008 is very good, I was even more impressed with the 2007 vintage (4 stars) that I bought the entire lot at my grocery store. the 2008 is very approachable but would probably be better to drink 2012 -2015 on the nose: black cherries, black currants, black raspberries on mouth: big fruit, soft tannins
I think this wine has all the good flavor of a very good cab. but that tannins for me is the negative side . I like to keep the wine in my mouth to pick up flavors and that tanning is just to much for me, maybe is good for you..give it a taste.
I am not a wine connoisseur but this wine made me finally understand the different nuances of flavor. I was so taken by the diverse flavors that I had to look up the ingredients. Sure enough there was the fruity berry cherry taste along with the spicy vanilla taste followed by the chocolate taste that stayed in my mouth. It is the most delightful wine I have ever tasted. I bought four bottles that day and the 815 was the best. Thank you for producing such a great wine.

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits abundant notes of black currants and cherries as well as hints of cedar and spice box. This medium-bodied, richly fruity, clean, pure 2006 will drink well for 5-6 years.
Very fruity and ripe, with jammy cherry, blackberry and raspberry flavors and a tease of chocolate-covered mint candy. Feels a bit abrupt and direct, so give it a decant and drink soon. - According to the Wine Enthusiast
CaliforniaJoel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon Blend No 815 is one of those rare wines that makes you feel you must have been undercharged! The 2003 release of Blend No 815 was named in honor of Lucy, oldest daughter of Joel and Sarah, born on August 15, 2003, just in time for the madness of harvest. Food and Wine Magazine declared the inaugural 2003 Joel Gott Cab among the best finds under $20 in the October 2005 issue. Each new release has renewed our faith in Joel Gott as a truly gifted winemaker. The new 2008 vintage just released carries on the tradition of excellence. In a very short time, Joel Gott has established cult status in California winemaking. (We still remember the buzz 8 years ago when the 2000 Joel Gott Zinfandel was presented at a trade tasting in New York!) Aside from making great wines, Joel keeps his hand in several other successful businesses, including Napa Valley's hottest burger stand, Taylor's Refresher, where Robert Parker enjoyed one of his "Most Memorable Meals."Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon Blend No 815 comes from a wide range of viticultural areas of California, including Napa Valley, the Mendocino coast, Paso Robles and Lake County. Together, these appellations create a balanced, structured wine with supple tannins, bright acidity and flavors ofspicy red fruit and rich black fruit that are intensified by aromas of currants, cedar and black tea. The wine is a dark ruby purple in color with soft tannins. It was aged for 15 months in French and American oak, 25% new barrels. Well structured and complex, it offers beautiful balance, silky texture and a smooth, lingering finish.Enjoy Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon Blend No 815 with grilled flank steak, BBQ ribs, grilled vegetables and cheeses.
The third vintage of 815 has all of the hallmarks that made the previous vintages so wonderful; copious amounts of fruit, intense color, and a smooth and lengthy finish.
Classic Joel Gott Cabernet. Dark purple in color, with ripe and complex flavors of cassis and mocha. The finish is long, jammy and almost sweet, yet balanced by the firm tannins.
The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits abundant notes of black currants and cherries as well as hints of cedar and spice box. This medium-bodied, richly fruity, clean, pure 2006 will drink well for 5ndash;6 years.
Another winner from winemaker Joel Gott. The 2003 Cabernet is made from fruit sourced from four appellations (Napa, Sonoma, Mendicino and Lodi), a winning combination that Gott has used in his normal Zinfandel bottling. The perfectly ripe fruit has the classic purple and ruby hues and aromas and flavors of cassis and blackberry. And the wine is all about a balance between ripe, silky tannins and fruit that is forward without being overripe and prunish. The moniker ldquo;Blend 815rdquo; marks the birth of Joelrsquo;s daughter on August 15, 2003, just before the busy harvest season.
Winemaker's Notes:
The 2008 Joel Gott Pelkan Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of black currant and fresh-picked blackberries. Sweet tannins lead to balanced acidity on the mid-palate with a lingering finish.
