Food Pairings for Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon California Blend 815
Cherry with menthol and mint on the nose - classic Cali cab here. Smooth and balanced with a nice undercurrent of minerals. Solid tannins and spice on the finish. Well balanced, and not overly fruity (good fruit, but not stewed/licorice fruit). Nice
Intense and concentrated, with a bit of oak. Nice aromas of blackberries and cassis. This would stand up well to a grilled fillet or spicy Cajun dishes. Excellent value at around $15.
Fruit bomb. This is not a subtle wine. Lots of fruit up front. Not my style of Cab, but I could see where some would enjoy.
Very nice structure and complexity. Priced just right at $15, any higher may be a turn-off for me.
New to snooth and to wine reviews, but love a good rich cabernet. One of my favorite table wines. Bang for your buck!
I agree with first review. If you let it breath first, it's a nice wine. Lots of nice flavours. A bit harsh if you don't let it breathe long enough.
Lighter and more subtle than expected.

Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon Our Cabernet Sauvignon is a mix of diverse vineyard sites throughout California; a combination of fruit that produces an elegant, structured and delicious profile a wine that we enjoy drinking. - Winery
This is the third vintage of The Show from Three Thieves, an winery dedicated to making affordable, easy-drinking wines. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from California's Central Coast and North Coast AVAs, this 2007 also includes a touch of Petite Sirah that adds depth of color and lovely violet aromas to the wine. Bold with jammy black cherry fruit and layers of sweet vanilla spice, this is a great everyday Cab. Let the Show begin.
The diversity of Napa Valley's appellations provide the 815 Cabernet with round, blackberry flavors from the valley floor and dark, complex mocha-like flavors from the hillsides. Volcanic soils and the higher elevation in vineyards northeast of Napa Valley help produce a wine with structure and a mineral component. Fruit from the rocky red soils and moderate climate of the Central Valley adds balance, soft tannins, silky texture and bright red fruit flavors to the wine. In contrast to these warmer regions, the cool climate and longer harvest of coastal vineyards allow for more earthiness and acidity resulting in a black tea laced wine with spicy red fruit and peppercorns.
Here's another delightful wine from the trio (Charles Bieler, Joel Gott, Roger Scommes) who showed us that jug wines can be fun and good. Three different labels, in the bold, iconic style of 1879, pay homage to the rodeo. The Show opens with deep garnet color and aromas of cassis, plum and clove, leading to juicy flavors of blueberry and blackberry, smooth tannins and a crisp, long finish. This charming wine could share the billing with grilled yellowfin tuna, well-aged cheddar, or pork loin with wild mushroom madeira sauce. The Show is a well-balanced example of Cabernet Sauvignon to enjoy often and at this price, buy a case, and share the experience with family and friends!
A blend of four coastal counties from Paso Robles to Dry Creek. It's ripe and soft and easy, with blackberry, chocolate. mint and vanilla flavors.
Shows a tightly wound structure with big hard tannins wrapped like a vise around fresh flavors of blackberries cherries and cassis. There s a firm minerally tang of iron at the core of this ageworthy wine. Better after 2015 when it should begin to mellow. S.H. Wine Enthusiast.
The juicy, voluptuously-textured, dense ruby/purple-hued 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits attractive blackberry and black currant fruit along with good flesh, fat, and texture, outstanding purity, and plenty of personality. Consume it now and over the next 12-15+ years.
The Joel Gott Pelkan Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas and flavors of dark cherry, bark spice, blackberry, casis, mocha and black pepper. Soft tannins lead to a rich mid-pallet and the wine displays a beautiful deep red hue.
