Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon California Blend 815 2007
Cherry with menthol and mint on the nose - classic Cali cab here. Smooth and balanced with a nice undercurrent of minerals. Solid tannins and spice on the finish. Well balanced, and not overly fruity (good fruit, but not stewed/licorice fruit). Nice
Intense and concentrated, with a bit of oak. Nice aromas of blackberries and cassis. This would stand up well to a grilled fillet or spicy Cajun dishes. Excellent value at around $15.
Fruit bomb. This is not a subtle wine. Lots of fruit up front. Not my style of Cab, but I could see where some would enjoy.
New to snooth and to wine reviews, but love a good rich cabernet. One of my favorite table wines. Bang for your buck!
Very nice structure and complexity. Priced just right at $15, any higher may be a turn-off for me.
I agree with first review. If you let it breath first, it's a nice wine. Lots of nice flavours. A bit harsh if you don't let it breathe long enough.
Lighter and more subtle than expected.

The diversity of Napa Valley's appellations provide the 815 Cabernet with round, blackberry flavors from the valley floor and dark, complex mocha-like flavors from the hillsides. Volcanic soils and the higher elevation in vineyards northeast of Napa Valley help produce a wine with structure and a mineral component. Fruit from the rocky red soils and moderate climate of the Central Valley adds balance, soft tannins, silky texture and bright red fruit flavors to the wine. In contrast to these warmer regions, the cool climate and longer harvest of coastal vineyards allow for more earthiness and acidity resulting in a black tea laced wine with spicy red fruit and peppercorns.
WE 94pts Cellar Selection - According to the Wine Enthusiast - Shows a tightly wound structure, with big, hard tannins wrapped like a vise around fresh flavors of blackberries, cherries and cassis. There s a firm, minerally tang of iron at the core of this ageworthy wine. Better after 2015, when it should begin to mellow.
Like a Hatch print for an Elvis gig, The Show grabs your attention. Big and bold, it is dominated by full flavors of dried black cherries, jammy preserves and layers of spice and sweet vanilla.
The juicy, voluptuously-textured, dense ruby/purple-hued 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits attractive blackberry and black currant fruit along with good flesh, fat, and texture, outstanding purity, and plenty of personality. Consume it now and over the next 12-15+ years.
