Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz Padthaway 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

Lifted spice and ripe mulberry/blackberry aromas are complimented with chocolate, cedar and cinnamon on the nose. Well-integrated oak tannin provides flavors of clove and supple texture, which supports the rich plum, blackberry and mocha. The overall structure is supple and generous with fine-grained tannin and a lingering finish.

Screw top. Ripe red fruits, blackberry and currants aromas with touch of barnyard. Uncomplicated and quite straightforward with currant and blackberry flavours on the palate. Fresh tasting with very nicely integrated oak, not your typical big Aussie Shiraz. Doesn't have the legs to stand up to spicy goat curry, but would work well mildly-spiced rack of lamb. A good, everyday, house-style of Shiraz. Tasted Mar/2012.

One note Hi-C with booze. Servicable with a pizza, but I was not having pizza, so knocking off a half glass. Super sweet sugar bomb here.

A decent shiraz. A bit dry, very mildly sweet, good peppery flavor, not too much fruit. Very drinkable with food, and a decent sipping red.

Jip Jip Rocks 2007 Shiraz is your stereotypical Australian Shiraz with bold dark fruit flavors, lots of heat, and a dark (almost black) color. I feel that Parker's 90 point rating may be a bit of a stretch and I would place this wine more in the 87/88 point range. I did appreciate the lack of oak which tends to crowd out the fruit in some other popular Australian Shiraz (Peter Lehman for example). The nose on the first glass reminded me of a salty sea breeze with a bit of decaying seaweed, the second and third glasses found the nose to open up to the fruit and as expected the tannins to relax. All in all it was a great pour for $14.99 and I would definitely recommend this wine to be poured with some nice grilled meats.

Deep purple in color with aromas of smoke, bacon and blueberries. Delicious blueberry and blackberry fruit flavors, are followed by wonderfully lush tannins. The wine has great structure and balance. Enjoy this wine now with food or with friends.

Jip Jip Rocksrsquo; 2005 Shiraz Limestone Coast exhibits a deep ruby/purple color as well as attractive blueberry, black raspberry, and creosote characteristics, wonderful intensity, supple tannin, and a long finish.

Dark ruby. Jammy raspberry and blueberry aromas are complicated by smoked meat and licorice. Fleshy, slightly sweet dark fruit compote flavors stain the palate, gaining in sweetness on the back end. Finishes soft, with lingering sweetness and gentle grip. Lots of wine here but I'd have liked a bit more vivacity.

Spicy and bursting with fruit, the Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz is the quintessential representation of Australiarsquo;s signature varietal. Medium-bodied and juicy, this wine is loaded with cranberry, black raspberry and cracked white pepper flavors mdash; a perfect match for anything thrown on the barbie!
