The 2009 Jip Jip Rocks Shiraz-Cabernet blend is a deep purple hue with a ripe fruity, minty, and slightly earthy aroma. The flavor is lively and fruit forward, delivering more sugar than spice, yet sufficiently tannic and layered with blackberry and citrus accents on the mid and front palate. Earthy, mineral undertones and minty highlights linger for some time on the finish; however, this wine doesn't improve much from start to finish. A sweeter, new-world style--some might even describe it as "jammy"--this wine is a sure crowd pleaser and a good value at $15.

Dark and juicy with ripe blackberry tart cherry and plum. These flavors lead to layers of licorice soft exotic spice tobacco leaf cigar box and a touch of mineral-laden chocolate. Firm tannins and balanced acidity drive the fruit and minerality long into the softly spiced finish.

The outstanding 2009 Shiraz/Cabernet boasts a deep purple color in addition to super-ripe mulberry and boysenberry fruit interwoven hints of cedar box, pepper, and underbrush. An opulent, voluptuously textured red with beautiful density and purity as well as a succulent style, it should drink nicely for 4ndash;5 years.
