I thoroughly enjoyed this deep red/purple Shiraz. While I didn't take notes on first opening the bottle, my second tasting two days after opening was excellent. Medium legs, deep red/purple coloring Peppery nose; cherry and blackberry Nice tingle on the tip of the tongue with a medium body and 30 second finish; lightly chocolaty taste of boysenberry.

Jim Barry the McRae Wood Shiraz 2005 – What a blockbuster! Loads of fruit intertwined with a smoky earthiness make for a muscular wine that deserves a worthy food pairing. Deep, deep purple color foretells the heavy extraction from the ripe fruit. This is a fantastic wine and a good value for the $40 price. Must try!

We enjoyed this wine recently. Definitely decant it though. It's very big compared to other Shiraz I've had. We loved it!
A smoother taste than the 2008 Shiraz. Lots of tannins for aging. Reminds me of new car smell. 89/100

This wine is inky in colour, with aromas of black cherry, dark plums, vanilla and chocolate. The palate is medium to full-bodied, displaying flavours of ripe black cherry, plum fruit and mocha characteristics. The fine grained talc-like tannins support a lingering velvety finish.
Deep purple hues, lifted delicate aromas of cinnamon, white pepper, blackberry, mocha, and liquorice. The menthol, spearmint, violet, and boysenberry flavors that fill the mouth are present in abundance, with soft, supple and structural tannins playing a supporting role.
The 2009 vintage has a concentrated ruby appearance with purple hues, lifted floral aromas of boysenberry, morello cherry and white pepper. The coffee, blueberry, spearmint and cranberry flavours that fill the mouth are present in abundance, with succulent fine grained and natural tannins playing a structural role. This wine is ideally suited to good food, good friends and good conversation.
The 2010 vintage has a deep black red color and excellent clarity. It displays lifted notes of pepper spice, nutmeg and caraway seed with lashings of boysenberry mixed with spearmint. The palate is medium bodied and seamless with an abundance of choc-mint, raspberries and black cherries, all wrapped up in integrated, well seasoned oak. This wine is ideally suited to good food, good friends and good conversation.
Smooth and ripe, with hints of eucalyptus and caramel sneaking into the blackberry and tar flavor profile. Finishes with an open texture and refined tannins.
