Jim Barry 'Pb' Reserve Cabernet-Shiraz 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

*92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate* The late Jim Barry was a pioneer of the Australian wine industry. He was the first qualified winemaker to work in the Clare Valley of South Australia and with his wife, Nancy, built a successful wine business which has produced trophy-winning wines since its establishment in 1959. Today, the company is headed by Jim’s second son Peter, who took over from his father as Managing Director. This wine is an intense, opaque brick red colour. The nose shows lifted aromas of cranberry, cedar, coconut, cassis, sandalwood and boysenberry with underlying characters of sage and rosemary. The palate is well balanced, showing prunes and blackberries with nuances of leather, boot polish and creme de menthe. This wine is immensely drinkable now but will only be enhanced by 8-10 years cellaring. "Good retention of hue; the fragrant bouquet has black cherry, cassis and blackcurrant aromas, then a fresh, silky palate adding a dash of chocolate, but otherwise making a monkey out of its alcohol." 95 points- James Halliday, 11th August 2011 "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2007 Pb Shiraz has quite an earthy nose that opens with Chinese plum and warm black currant aromas alongside notes of loam, pencil shavings and a whiff of dried mint. Solidly built with muscular and firm, grainy tannins, it is concentrated, lifted by a crisp acid line and finishes long and toasty. Should age for 10-12+ more years" 92 points, The Wine Advocate,
