Jemrose Syrah "Cardiac Hill" Bennett Valley Sonoma 2007
Deep purple color. Aromatics burst from the glass with dark berries, smoked meats, bacon fat, violets and a hint of graphite. Medium weight and elegant yet creamy and mouth coating with no heaviness. Refreshing flavors of blueberries, blackberries, Asian spices with some minerality. Fine tannins on the long, persistent finish.
A wonderful Syrah from an under-appreciated region. Deep black and blue fruits on the nose along with clove, black pepper and smoke. The palate is concentrated with some nice earthy notes coming through with blackberry pie and pencil lead.
