This wine was described as a vinho verde, which it is NOT. It is very inexpensive and delicious. The server was kind enough to write down the name of the bottle -- very good with fish and excellent alone.

The Jelu vineyards are farmed organically and everything there is done by hand. This wonderful Torrontés expresses aromas of honeysuckle and lychee. Flavors of Meyer lemon and white peach interact with layers of tropical fruit. Imagine a wine that is a cross between Gewürztraminer and Riesling! Plenty of body combines with bright acidity to excite one's palate. Serve this wine with a mixed green salad with goat cheese, caramelized pecans, fresh pears and Dijon balsamic vinaigrette.

Located in a box canyon near the Andes Mountains on an old, dry riverbed, the Jelu Torrontes benefits from the alluvial soils and unique microclimate. Striking delicate floral aromas drift along the nose with white peach and honeysuckle blossoms. As the wine unfolds, it has an oily mouth-feel that coats the palate with flavors of lychee and other tropical fruits. The balance of fruit and acids makes this a fantastic match for a wide range of foods.

With a certain legerdemain, Torronteacute;s misdirects you like a good magician. Like its pal Viognier, one whiff and you know itrsquo;s going to be sweet, but one sip (nothing up my sleeve) and you find that itrsquo;s completely dry, with mouthcoating flavors of peach, nectarine, pear, lychee and honey. Its texture is smooth, with a viscosity that may remind one of peach nectar or 20W-50. Where these wines invariably fall down, however, is the finish. Without enough acidity, the flavors fall flat and fade. But the Jelu has a secret ingredient. With a small dose of Chenin Blanc (the grape of Vouvray and Saumur), its inherently crisp acidic structure gives a luminosity to the Torronteacute;s that elevates the flavors from beginning to end. It is the best Torronteacute;s I have tasted, sleight-of-hands down.

The vineyards are located at 900 meter above grapes are hand picked, classic cool fermentation followed. Delicate floral notes and white peach, honeysuckle blossom, and layers of lychee conspire which is balanced with good acid and on the palate.

Rose and Duncan Killner, owners of Jelu Estate, created this wine to promote the unique terrior of the Zonda Valley of Argentina. The property is in a box canyon, sitting on an old river bed, and the soil is alluvial. In 2012, Argentina exported more than 231,000 cases of Torrontés to the United States. The wine is light yellow and very aromatic with pear, peach, mango, almond and floral notes. This medium-bodied, crisp, clean, juicy wine is well balanced with good acidity and lemon and pear accents. The finish is long and tangy. Enjoy this wonderful wine with grilled fish, roast chicken or cheese soufflé.
