Jekel Vineyards Gravelstone Chardonnay 2009
Wine Tasting Notes A melange of tropical fruit flavors brim from this concentrated wine: lemon, Mandarin orange, pineapple and mango. Subtle vanilla and spice nuances enhance the lush flavors, with a beam of acidity to keep the finish lively and long. Chicken, shellfish and especially lobster are perfect pairings, but so too are pork, veal and seafood. Expansive lemon and pineapple flavors enrich your chicken and shellfish dishes.

Rating: 85/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the October 2010 issue. There may not be a great deal of richness or range to be had here, and it does not go very far in its expression of Chardonnay fruit, but this smaller-scaled wine is nicely balanced and as clean as can be. It makes no pretense to complexity, but then neither does its price-and, on the whole, it is decently priceworthy.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
