Jean-Claude Bessin described 2002 as excellent and dry; in fact perhaps too dry. We had absolutely no rot with excellent sugars that came in between 12 and 14%. However, the harvest wasn't easy because even though the sugars were good, phenolic ripeness was uneven and thus we made several passes through each vineyard trying to harvest only the best fruit; we left some fruit as it just wasn't up to our standards. As a result, yields were down somewhat, coming into between 40 and 60 hl/ha, depending on the cru. Interestingly, there were a lot of berries but not much juice so we pressed carefully read more...

Complex and rich. Gorgeous fruit and superb acidity. Backward but will develop very well. Drink 10-15 years.
