Reverdy's "white queen" reigns in my wine cellar. This is the finest Sauvignon Blanc I have tasted this year from any wine region - including New Zealand's Cloudy Bay. The balance of heady, ripe, juicy tree fruits, cleansing minerality and exotic fig flavors on a searingly pure frame must be close to perfection. No faults in this wine, except that it is limited in quantity. Beautiful, star-bright white gold color and packed with flavor.

Classic Sancerre style with evergreen and grassy aromas, a touch of sweetness in the mid-palate and a white grapefruit-like finish.

The 2009 Sancerre La Reine Blanche is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the regions chalky soils. Gorgeous aromas of flowers, honeyed melons, orange rind, and white currants are beautifully intense, precise, and fresh. Vinified and aged in stainless steel, with no malolactic, it exhibits zesty acidity and medium to full body buttressing the intense flavors. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.

Solid showing here, with vibrant citrus peel, pink grapefruit and herb flavors and a fresh, crisp finish. Not quite dense enough to score outstanding, but clearly very good. Drink now.

A touch on the candied side, yet also shows typical gooseberry, citrus and grass notes, with moderate intensity on a vivid frame. Drink now.

This wine comes from a family owned estate in the village of Verdigny. In Sancerre this is considered prime real estate. The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard with vines averaging 25 years of age and chalky, gravelly soils. The stellar 2009 vintage brought full ripness and development. Stainless steel fermentation and minimal handling bring out the bright citrus, melon and mineral notes in this full and refreshing Loire Valley white. Robert Parker scored it 91 points saying "The 2009 Sancerre La Reine Blanche is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the regions chalky soils.
