What to Expect

Pinot Noir: Responsible for some of the greatest wines on earth - the exhausted red wines of France's Burgundy region. Pinot Noir is a notoriously fickle grape that expresses its origins like no other. It's a vine that needs to struggle to produce great wines but when it does the depth of flavors that range from cherry to cola can be explosive and the wines' bright acidity and gentle tannins make them approachable and widely appealing,

Winemakers Notes

From 2.5 hectare hillside parcel, 30 year-old vines, short pruning of vines leaves 6-7 grape bunches per vine, green harvest in mid-July, regular tilling of the soil for aeration.

Manual harvest, vinification in cement glass lined vats, maceration for 10-15 days. Oak barrel aging for 9 months. 25% new oak.

Reviews

The wine region of Mercurey is home to some of the best red wine values in Burgundy. If you haven’t mastered the complex AOC’s of Burgundy (and really, even among wine aficionados, there are not many who have), you probably have read enough to know that the Pinot Noirs from the Côte d’Or come at a premium and can be hit or miss. But venture further south to the Côte Chalonnais and you can find committed and talented producers making Pinot Noirs with plenty of fruit ripeness, elegance and terroir for under $30.

Rich nose of cherries and leather. Very mineral, with tart cherry flavors and raspberry notes. Nice toffee notes on the finish.

an herbal-ness to the wine, aromas, of red fruit, rasberries and herbs, on the palate a little more darker, rustic woodsy, a tad funky in a delicious way, with subtle tannins on the finish

Kind of a lush musky drink with well established fruit and a crisp citric bite. Very enjoyable to drink on its own.

Strawberries, blueberries and other red fruits on the nose, crisp and bright and acidic in the mouth with unripe cherry flavors and a hint of oak.

Medium bodied with dark cherry strawberry and blueberry flavors structured tannins and balanced acidity with very good length on the palate.
