Clean and hot, with hints of papaya flavors. It's simple, with some unripe strawberries. Very tart.

The variation in the reviews is very interesting. This is good, it is a GSM that tastes more like something Australian than French, it has a touch of sweetness on the finish. A fruit bomb. Good wine. Average for the price.

Acidic, weak fruit, steely mouth feel. Poor value even at this price.

Cape Bleue Rose 2010 - 88 points, Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar/ Pale pink. Spices and orange zest on the nose, with a slow-building redcurrant quality and a hint of white pepper. Dry, tightly wound and refreshingly brisk, offering nervy but slightly hard-edged red fruit and citrus flavors. Finishes with good bite and length, echoing the citrus note. This drinks very well by itself.

/ Rosemary and black olive notes support the dense, black fruit, with a firm streak of acidity keeping everything together. Give it a thick juicy steak to balance the richness.

Hailed as the winemaking wizard of the Rhône, Jean-Luc Colombo has achieved a high-profile international reputation for making innovative wines that are original, memorable and bursting with personality. Despite a resolute aversion to change in the Cornas region, Colombo has brazenly introduced innovative methods in his vineyards and throughout the production process based on a respect for nature and his fundamental belief that good wine is the culmination of three key elements: terroir, human endeavor and modern winemaking techniques. The result? A more accessible style of Rhône Valley wines, reflecting an exuberance of fruit and depth of expression and showcasing the full potential of the Syrah grape when grown in the unique terroir of Cornas. Through his intense dedication, Colombo has brought the wines of Cornas into the international limelight. The company now embraces 27 wines representing major appellations of the Rhône Valley as well as the Languedoc and Roussillon regions of southern France. Production Area Rhone Valley, France Grapes are hand-picked from 60-year-old vines on a single vineyard site of steep granite terraces. Located in the southern area of the Saint-Joseph appellation in the northern Rhône Valley. All work in the vineyards is done manually and without the use of pesticides or irrigation, respecting the local environment. Grape Varieties 100% Syrah. Vinification Grapes are picked manually and follow a classic fermentation. The fermentation consists of 3-4 days of pre-maceration, 7 days of fermentation and 3 weeks of post-maceration. The juice is free run, and the wine is aged for more than 12 months in new or one-year-old oak barrels. The wine is fined just before bottling, and is unfiltered. Color Deep ruby red Bouquet Full-bodied and concentrated, with aromas of black currant, blackberry, spices and mocha Taste An intense wine with notes of black cherry, bay leaves, cloves and roasted coffee beans Alcohol 12.5% Serving Suggestions Excellent with barbecue food, roast beef, leg of lamb and venison.

Cellar Notes: 2005 Northern Rhone Valley, Part I/ It's 100 percent Syrah, grown on chalk and granite soils just past the end of the Cornas appellation. The vines are 65 to 70 years old, and the wine offers lots of mineral, olive and red fruits, similar to its big brother from Cornas.

Les Forots Cotes du Rhone 2006 - 89 Points, Wine Enthusiast/ Colombo's Les Forots is 100% Syrah from the northern Rhone, yet it's fruit driven and supple in style, with black cherry flavors and a soft, creamy mouthfeel that makes it immediately accessible.

Cape Bleue Rose 2008 - Health Magazine/ For chicken, try this crackling-dry, deliciously lively rose from Provence. It’s blend of the local grapes Syrah, Mourvedre and Counoise give it a bewitching mis of sweet-strawberry and savory pepper flavors.

Colombo has turned to the vineyards of the blue coast near Marseille for the inspiration behind his Cape Bleue Rosé. In a return to his roots, Colombo, a native of the area, produces this delicate, expressive Rosé from this promontory of land overlooking the bay of Marseille. Known for its shimmering landscape this area of Provence has been captured on canvas by countless artists, most famously Cézanne. Production Area Provence, France From hilly vineyards with stony/limestone soils, located around the city of Salon de Provence above the bay of Marseille. This region benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate and maritime influence. WINEMAKER Jean-Luc Colombo, considered a “Revolutionary Enologist” by Robert Parker, works closely with his wife, Anne and daughter, Laure to craft award-winning wines from the South of France. Grape Varieties 67% Syrah, 33% Mourvèdre Vinification Traditional “saignée” method is used – where the crushed red grapes are soaked until the desired color is achieved and then the tanks are drained of all juice and/or must. Fermentation is at low temperature in stainless steel vats and bottled immediately after to preserve freshness. Color Soft, delicate salmon pink Bouquet Subtle hints of peach, rose petal and soft pepper on the nose Taste Dry, round and full of finesse. Surprisingly complex, with intriguing notes of raspberries, cherries, black olive and fennel. Alcohol 12.5% Serving Suggestions A great rosé to enjoy on its own or with a wide range of appetizers, fish, poultry dishes and vegetarian fare. A perfect wine to share with friends!
