Jean-Luc-Colombo Cotes-du-Rhone le Vent Blanc 2014

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a shop in London's Hamstead [www.oddbins.com ] for £8.50.It was made by Jean-Luc Colombo, a vineyard owner and negociant operating in the Rhone valley. It consists of 80% clairette and 20% roussanne and was named in honour of the Le Vent wind that sometimes blows in the Rhone valley.I started the bottle last night with my fish and chip supper and I did enjoy it.It is a bone dry wine but very fresh tasting. There is some sour apple kind of fruit there but the dominant impression was of citrus acidity. It went well with ther fish.

Jean-Luc Colombo:
Jean-Luc Colombo was born in Marseilles and originally trained as a pharmacist but in 1986 he bought  the 8 hectare 'Les Ruchots ' vineyard in the Cornas appellation. He still lives on that estate, which is now organic, with his wife Anne and daughter Lauren but his business has expanded considerably as he now  owns vineyards in many Rhone valley and Languedoc appellations and also operates as a consultant and negociant..
