Jean Luc Colombo 'Cape Bleue' Rose 2017

Member Review by Aegelis:

With an impressive read on the French label, it sounded like this rose' was worth a go. Colour was a bit of a warning, as most rose's I enjoy are a light to deep pink with a boarderline red. Scent was light, a bit floral and also concerning but taste is what matters. On the pour, it seemed very peach. Peach? Okay, trying not to judge a wine by its colour. Diving in, my first thought was this was a nice Chardonnay. Chardonnay? I thought it said Rose'. Well, Maybe I missed something. A glass later, I'm thinking it was an okay semi-dry Chardonnay for dinner. In a few days, if someone would've asked what I thought of this wine, I probably wouldn't recognize what they meant right away. Then it clicks, "yes, it was an alright Chardonnay, but let me tell you about the pizza I had with it".

Light peachy pink. Juicy strawberry, nectarine and other stone fruits. Slight medicinal quality. Seemed to have some heat but alc. is only 12.5%. Palate was a bit underwhelming.

Light, crisp, and elegant exactly what I look for in a rose. Red fruits and a smooth finish. 89 pts

Light as air and fragrant with sour cherry fruit and tea-like herbal notes, this has the beach written all over it.

Gentle watermelon seed and strawberry notes give this a fresh feel, with a light, tea-tinged finish. Drink now.

La Divine 2010 - 90 points, Vinous/ Spice- and floral-accented aromas of blackberry and cherry, with a peppery nuance gaining power with aeration. Broad and fleshy on the palate, offering supple black and blue fruit flavors that pick up a smoky quality in the glass. Notes of vanilla and cracked pepper linger on a long, gently tannic finish.
