Jean Laurent Brut Rosé Champagne NV

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

A deep-hued rosé, almost garnet in color, with a fine bead and tangy acidity backing the flavors of candied black cherry, whole-grain bread, star anise, smoke and honey. Offers a well-cut, chalky finish. Disgorged December 2013. Drink now through 2019.

Made from 100% Pinot Noir and disgorged October 2003, the non-vintage Brut Rose’ (which spent six years on its lees) is a dry, austere, long, medium to-full bodied rose’ that screams “serious”. Flavors of strawberries, wet stones, and tomato skins are found in this impressively endowed, structured, well-delineated effort. Consume it over the next 2–4 years.

Fruit flavors of plum, black licorice and blackberry mix with hints of smoke, toast and forest floor in this harmonious rosandeacute;, which is full-bodied and very juicy, with a spicy, lightly chalky finish. Drink now through 2021. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Firm and intense, like a Pinot Noir with bubbles, this rosandeacute; tastes of macerated cherries and berries, with a hint of basil or mint. A contrast to the more elegant, creamy styles. Drink now.

Bright acidity and detailed texture frames rich flavors of date, candied orange peel, dried apricot, graham cracker and almond cream in this seamlessly integrated, vibrant Blanc de Blancs. A wine drinker’s Champagne. Drink now through 2018.
