Jean-Jacques Confuron Romanée St. Vivant 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

Full, rich, voluptuous and complex for its aroma and its taste. This wine delights by its fullness and its complexity. To drink it young would be an imposture. Its tasting is a great event.

Not a voluble talker, he walks along the rows and says almost timidly: ‘There is life in there, you can see it.’ He points to the parcel of Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru: at eighty years old, it is the oldest in the domaine. If the results are right he will extend the practice to other parcels. Read less

A background nuance of wood toast does not intrude on the earthy and very ripe blue and black pinot fruit aromas that exude spice hints that continue onto the extremely rich, concentrated and serious flavors blessed with ample amounts of dry extract and sleek muscle on the deep, long and palate staining finish. This is a big wine in the context of the vintage and appears extremely promising. A classic Boudots that is half Nuits and half Vosne. Burghound.com, Issue 37 Jan 30, 2010, Allen Meadows
