- The bottle in the tasting did not perform anywhere near what this wine has shown me in the past as it possessed none of the explosive Oriental spice nose and sappy flavors that offer superb depth. Rather, the nose revealed somber and very earthy black fruit with a touch of slightly funky vegetal notes though the flavors are rich, full and nervous underpinned by edgy tannins. To be sure, this is a delicious and impressively complex effort but it seems rather awkward today. In short, this was inconsistent with what I have tasted on several previous occasions.
