Jean-Jacques Confuron Nuits St. Georges les Fleurières 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

It is a pleasant wine which is highly appreciated for its strong flavor of dark fruit and sweet flavors of earth and spice. In the mouth, it presents a moderately bodied character, muscular and moderately tannic. With the flexible dates, choose a white meat such as chicken or veal.

Not a voluble talker, he walks along the rows and says almost timidly: ‘There is life in there, you can see it.’ He points to the parcel of Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru: at eighty years old, it is the oldest in the domaine. Since 2003 he has ploughed it by horse. This is a slow (and costly) job which requires patience and precision but which has the utmost respect for the soil. If the results are right he will extend the practice to other parcels. Read less

Mild wood mixes with the spicy red currant, rose petal and earth aromas that slide gracefully into the very rich and full-bodied flavors that are tautly muscular and possess impressive volume while culminating in a textured, velvety, mouth coating and balanced finish. A classic Boudots and I particularly like the depth. Burghound.com , 1st Quarter, Issue 41, Allen Meadows
