Jcr Vineyard Pinot Noir Pommard 5 2011

Winemaker's Notes:

93 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): (made with 75% whole clusters and raised in 50% new French oak): Vivid ruby-red. An expansive bouquet evokes blackberry and cherry compote, Asian spices and cola. Floral notes emerge with air and carry onto the palate, joining sappy dark berry and bitter cherry flavors. Dusty tannins come on late and add grip to an impressively long, smoke- and spice-accented finish. (Nov/Dec 2013)

Planted in the spring of 2008 with dormant vines, the five acres of pinot noir and half acre of chardonnay bore their first fruits in the 2010 vintage. At our vineyard, the weather is cooler and harsher than the nearby Sta. Rita Hills and the soil changes color and consistency over the vineyard's hillside from sand to clay to limestone. The vineyard rests on southeasterly facing slopes and is sheltered from the strong Pacific Coast winds by the surrounding hills. Please visit our website for more details.   Read less
