The fruit for this outstanding Syrah is sourced from the respected Eaglepoint Ranch vineyard in Mendocino County. Located at an elevation of 1,800 feet, the vineyard yields fruit that is intensely concentrated in taste and color. The 2006 is an outstanding example of the Syrah varietal showing beautiful deep and dark red/black colors with violet hues and aromas of plums, berries, mocha, and pepper.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2006 growing season in Mendocino ran later than usual, giving the fruit extended “hang time.” The grapes were harvested on October 19, 2006 and spent 5 days in cold soak prior to fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in a combination of 25% new French oak and 75% neutral oak. Prior to bottling the wine was blended with a small amount (5%) of Petite Sirah (from the same vineyard) to give it extra body and complexity. The wine spent a total of 19 months of barrel aging prior to bottling in mid-May, 2008. The 2006 is an outstanding example of the Syrah varietal showing beautiful deep and dark red/black colors with violet hues and aromas of plums, berries, mocha, and pepper.
