Januik Walla Walla Valley Seven Hills Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2005

Member Review by joshwoodward:

RICH body. Very complex, black fruit. Long. Pencil lead, huge. Light acidity. Charmer. Creamy. Good standalone wine.

Januik Winery:
Family-owned. Artisan winemaking. Acclaimed Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. You’ve heard dozens of wineries make these claims, and while these statements are certainly true of Januik wines, they seem a little cliché too. If Januik becomes your go-to wine, we’ve done our job. “Nobody in Washington State delivers more outstanding quality for the dollar than Januik Winery,” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate wrote recently. Firm in texture, upright in structure, with a core of dark berry and root beer flavors that persist into a slightly gritty finish. Best from 2010 through 2015.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Seven Hills Vineyard comes from Leonettiandrsquo;s parcel of this premium terroir. Enticing aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, smoke, black currants, and blackberry are first class. On the palate the wine is firm with the structure to evolve for 3andndash;4 years. It admirably combines power and elegance. Drink it from 2013 to 2025.

Bright ruby-red. Aromas of redcurrant, loam and tobacco. Silky on entry, then solidly structured in the mid-palate, with good thrust to the sweet raspberry and mineral flavors. Finishes with a fairly serious tannic spice.
