Bright purple. Vibrant red and dark berry aroma shows a whiff of heat. Spicy red fruit flavors on entry, then weightier bitter cherry and blackberry in the middle palate, with dusty tannins adding support. The finish is firm and gripping, with cherry... This is pure, driven and well-rounded, with a beam of kirsch, crushed plum and bright red currant fruit coursing through, backed by lingering red licorice, violet and sweet tobacco notes. The long finish is still tightly wound. Best from 2011 through... Wine Spectator. There was no Chaupin bottling in '08 and the grapes from this vineyard were included in the base Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The wine is very solid for the vintage and exhibits blackberry and raspberry fruit, graphite, touches of pepper, and baking spices. ... Rhone Report, The. Deep ruby. Smoky red and dark berries and black cherry on the nose and palate. Sweet and lush, with dark fruit flavors lifted by mineral and cracked pepper nuances. Densely packed, rich and firmly tannic for the year, with very good finishing thrust ... Stephen Tanzers IWC. One of the few domaines to produce a special cuvee in 08, the Domaine de la Janasse Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes is medium weight with spicy dark fruits framing subtle graphite and mineral aromatics. Medium bodied and fresh on the palate, the... Rhone Report, The. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2008 Janasse, Domaine de la Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 750ml

Wild, intensely perfumed nose combines black raspberry, mulberry, mocha, star anise and dried flowers. Enters the mouth silky and fine, then expands to stain the palate with vibrant, mineral-driven flavors of candied red fruits and spices. The long, ... Stephen Tanzers IWC. Winemaker's Notes:

"This is deliciously ripe, with layers of crushed plum, anise, blackberry and boysenberry fruit, all laced with plenty of spice and fruitcake notes. There's lots of mulled raisin on the finish, but this stays nicely driven, with well-embedded acidity. Contains the lots that usually go into the Chaupin cuvée. Best from 2011 through 2020. Tasted twice, with consistent notes...92" WS 10/10
