Jamesport Vineyards Cabernet Franc North Fork Estate Bottled 2004

Winemaker's Notes:

History: Jamesport Vineyards is a father-son collaboration that began in 1981 at Early Rising Farm in Cutchogue, making Jamesport Vineyards one of the North Fork's oldest vineyards. 60 acres of pristine vineyards are located here. The high quality of their fruit is what gained Jamesport Vineyards a reputation and caused their fruit to be in high demand from both local and upstate wineries. Jamesport Vineyards is truly an estate winery. Ron Goerler Sr. acquired the 150-year-old barn that houses the winery and tasting room in 1986. Drawing on the great Cutchogue fruit supply as well as the talents of his son, Ron Jr., he started Jamesport Vineyards in 1989. Since then, a lot has changed, both aesthetically and agriculturally. New clones of Cabernet Franc, Dijon Chardonnay and Syrah were selected from California vineyards for planting at the winery locale. Tasting Notes: This is the second time out of three years our Cabernet Franc has been given the title "Best Red Wine in New York State" after winning double gold in the New York Wine and Food Classic. The blend consists of 86% Cabernet Franc, 8% Syrah, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is an excellent example of what Cabernet Franc can achieve here on Long Island. The wine is dark ruby in color and has concentrated dark fruit aromas of black cherry and black currants. The mouthfeel is rich, round and soft with flavors of cherry, chocolate and spice. Pair with flavorful dishes such as veal, fowl or game. Ready to drink now, but will continue to improve in bottle for many years. Return to Jamesport Vineyards Wine List
