James Judd & Son Barbera Shandon 2005

Member Review by thewineattic:

James Judd wines are most famous for their stellar Paso Robles cabernet - each year sold out. This was the first time I've tasted their Barbera from their Shandon Vineyards. Very classic. I would save for another 5 years to round the tannins out but all in all very satisfying and right on the money. I love these guys - true acriculturalists and James Jr. believe it or not is a professional comedian. If you see any James Judd wines, know that you are getting real quality along with the value of their pricing. Another winner!

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

90 pts - Nose handily carries spiced blackberries, oak. Strong tannins, medium-bodied. Strong oak and grape stems on palate. Decant more than 1 hour, hold until 2011. Pair with fried green tomatoes.
