Jaillance Clairette de Die Tradition NV

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine [actually it was a pack of three 25cl bottles] for 7 euros at a shop in Calais.Clairette de Die is an appellation created in 1942,although there has been viticulture here since at least the Romans, for sparkling wines from 32 communes in the Drone valley [a tributary of the Rhone] to the east of ther town of Valence. The wines are a blend of muscat and clairette and are made using 'methode ancestrale' which involves cooling the wine. Cremant de Die is a similar apellation from the same area which uses 'methode traditional' ie champagne method.Coteaux de Die is an appellation for still wines from this area.Jaillance is a large co-operative which accounts for 75% of the production of Clairette de Die. I started my bottle yesterday with my lunch of smoked fish and salad. It is a sweet or at least semi-sweet wine and there were plenty of bubbles. There is some peach and lychee style fruit.Overall I though this a lovely wine that went well with the salad
