Food Pairings for Jaffurs Viognier Santa Barbara County
Had this as part of a Jaffurs Winemaker dinner Rose and plenty of floral. The first thing I notice was it seems a little sweet for a Viognier. Has notes of papaya, longan and hints of orchids. It is a little acidic and it would be too much to drink a whole bottle. It was an amazing pairing and it worked really well with nuts. There were plenty of elements in the salad to make sure it went well. The 2010 Viognier, Santa Barbara County has our classic full mouth feel and a clean, lingering finish. It’s bright yet surprisingly rich, demonstrating Viognier’s dichotomy between opulence and elegance. It combines the fruit from two vineyards: Refugio Vineyard fruit provides a lighter, floral-peach, mineral element to the wine. Bien Nacido Vineyard fruit adds body, glycerin, acid, and a burst of tropical and peach aromas.
