Maison Louis Jadot is a winery that’s proud of its heritage and land. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, Maison Jadot expanded rapidly, taking northern Europe by storm. When his son, Louis Jean Baptiste, took over in 1900, more change took place, and many vineyards were acquired, including Corton Charlemagne and Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles. With the help of Rudy Kopf, founder of the Kobrand Corporation, Maison Jadot expanded even further, setting up shop in both England and the U.S. In 1985, Madame Jadot sold the company to Rudy Kopf’s family, ensuring a successful future for the company. The land is very important to Maison Louis Jadot, and making the terroir shine through is always a priority. Maison Jadot identifies with its Burgundy heritage, and all wines are Appellation Contrôlée. The winery controls about 380 acres of land in Burgundy, including Côte d'Or, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. Jacques Lardière, winemaster, works with Christine, Guillaume, and Audrey to ensure that the single-variety wines produced, including Pinot Noir for reds, Chardonnay for whites, and Gamay for Beaujolais, always produce the best, most consistent wines. Light, grassy. Good finish. Tart back end. I taste "green" (240 views) Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 9/22/2012 & rated 92 points: Slightly light in color for a burgundy, with powerful aromas of green apple, peach, citrus, lemon peel. Quite elegant and much better than expected. The finish was long yet simple, with grace. Dinner @ John & Tiffany's, note recorded a week late. (548 views) Tasted by hoservin on 8/25/2012 & rated 89 points: Green apple, floral, citrus, and vanilla aromas. Apple, citrus, and buttery notes on the palate lead to a medium length, crisp finish. Well balanced. Paired with marinated, grilled chicken. (763 views) Tasted by tantotinto on 7/7/2012 & rated 88 points: Tight nose. Flint, smoke, lemon and apple flavours. Tart finish. Good and a good value. (1309 views) Tasted by Anonymous on 5/10/2012: Tasting at Domaine Chandon de Briailles and Maison Jadot (Savigny-lès-Beaune and Beaune): Aromas jump from the glass, crisp, minerally, medium finish. Very nice if not special (1549 views) Tasted by cartime on 4/9/2012 & rated 90 points: Very nicely balanced and drinking great right now. A great value and a perfect mid-week food wine. Lemon, green apple, and stony minerals with terrific acidity. As an aside, I've been really impressed with 2010 Macon. I'm hoping the vintage character carries over into the Cote d'Or. Not as ripe and blowsy as many 2009's, but not as austere and much more approachable at this stage than the 2008's were. Just a fantastic balance of fruit and acidity. Not much bouquet - flinty, dull. Acidic with very little fruit expression. Short finish. Was disappointed with this wine - was expecting more fruit and some oak. Very flat.
