Candied lemon rind, blood orange, hazelnut, and brown spices on the nose of Jadot’s 2007 Batard-Montrachet segue into a dense, big-boned, subtly oily, chalky palate. There is more than enough citrus and sense of energy here to lend refreshment and lift to a wine of such density and breadth. I would plan to give this formidable Batard at least a couple of years in bottle and anticipate 8-10 or more of high performance...93" WA 12/09
Nose of citrus fruits, lime and mineral touch. The taste was slightly sweet at the beginning with a surprisingly little sour aftertaste of citrus and melon. I could not really taste the heavy oak.
Gently touched with oak? Really? Maybe they waved the oak over top of the vat... I admit, I am not a chardonnay lover anyway, but I just don't understand how it has acquired such a fanatical following - because it's French and affordable? I don't know. My husband likes it too, poor soul. Well, he can drink our bottle on his own. I will be cracking the Chateau St. Michelle Chardonnay or the Cline Viognier that night.
I like CA Chardonnay and tried this to recalibrate, wish I hadn't: too citrus, no oak. I'll drink it but won't purchase again
Good white wine to have with dinner. Chicken in my case.
