Jade Mountain White Blend Blend 2008
Our White Blend is a unique, complex blend of white grapes, our winemaker’s pursuit of the perfect combination of flavors. This is a multidimensional, multisensory wine offering layer upon layer of aromas, textures and flavors. Look for inviting aromas of lemon-lime, tropical fruits, subtle white rose and orange blossom, with hints of butter, nutmeg and allspice. The generous palate is mouthfilling creaminess, boasting flavors of lemon curd, crisp green apple and other orchard fruits laced with light caramel and butter toffee notes. The finish is crisp and clean. Pair this wine with a wide variety of cuisines, from favorites from the South of France to spicy Indian and Asian dishes.
I tried this on a whim off the wine list at Soba, a trendy pan-asian restaurant in Pittsburgh. It was a white blend of chardonnay, marsanne, pinot gris, malvasia, sauv blanc and viognier grapes. Because it was served extremely chilled, I couldn't smell much in the bouquet and couldn't taste much beyond the grape-y sweetness (very much like white grape juice cocktail). It was much too sugary for my liking. I was disappointed it wasn't better.
