This wine has a nice deep purple color. It had a nice fruitty nose with moderate tannins. I found this wine on clearance at my local wine store. Very nice.

History Since 1988, Jade Mountain has been a pioneer in the production of age-worthy Rhône-style California wines. The winery was founded with the belief that carefully chosen California vineyard sites planted to Rhône grape varieties can achieve quality on-par with the best from the Rhône region in France. Jade Mountain creates world-class wines by pushing the limits of grape-growing and winemaking for the extract, flavor and richness that comes with the California sun and its individual expressions of Rhône varietals. Terroir Only a few locations in California have the perfect combination of soil and climate for growing world-class Syrah. Paras Vineyard sits at the 1,200-foot elevation on the eastern side of rocky Mount Veeder, overlooking the Napa Valley. The steep, terraced shale slopes are ideal for Syrah because of the cool, yet sun-drenched, climate and low-vigor soils. The vineyard is farmed terrace by terrace, with each row individually cared for. This same care is used at each of the vineyards from which we source grapes for Jade Mountain's wines. The grapes are picked by hand, then fermented in small lots to retain their unique character. All of these factors result in meager production, but high-quality wine Read less
Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Rich nose of blackberry and pepper, but this is extremely hot. Somewhere there is some fruit under the alcohol, but by all means serve this no warmer than cellar temp. I'll leave a score/add'l notes in a day after it's had time to sit/chill (currently room temp) Same the second day. Great nose, awkward/hot palate.

Couldn't drink it, sour smoke are the only words I can think of to describe it. 15% alcohol was also a turn-off. Poured it out!

This was one of the best Syrahs I have ever had. Big flavor and great to drink on its own! I highly recommend trying this wine.

I have never had a wine that smelled more like blackberry cobler!. Very dark tasting - black and blue berries with slight meatiness, some vanilla and almost coconut flavors from the oak. Moderate peppery finish.

Wine Tasting NotesThe Jade Mountain Lake County Syrah offers luscious, smoky raspberry and fraise des bois aromas. Medium-full in body, this wine is richly textured with balanced acidity, and should age beautifully for several years. It pairs wonderfully with red meat, savory stews, and rich paella.

This 2004 Syrah shows black cherry and cassis aromas, with hints of toasty wood. Big flavors of chewy coffee and black fruit are followed by a rolling chocolate finish.

Jade Mountain La Provencal California This Provencal blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre strikes just the right balance and enjoys a nose of floral tinted blackberries and a sweet, soft mouthfeel filled with fruit.
