What to Expect

California has long struggled with Pinot Noir. Finding the right vineyards for this most fickle of grape, one that enjoys a cool growing season yet needs warmth close to harvest to fully ripen, has proven a challenge in such a sunny state. Cooler areas eventually became identified; the Santa Rita Hills, Russian River Valley and Mendocino's Anderson valley are all prime spots for Pinot Noir in California. Unlike the lighter colored and sometimes delicate Pinots of Burgundy, California produces many rich, deep Pinots full of slightly chewy dark berry and cherry fruits with hints of cola, Asian spices and forest floor frequently adding complexity.

Winemakers Notes

Tasting Notes :This Burgundy native is known as one of the world's major reds. In Italy, Pinot Noir is planted primarily in the north. The Jacuzzi family plants their Pinot Noir on their home ranch in the Sonoma Carneros appellation.
Tasting Notes: This cool growing region equates to longer hang-time, which makes for more complex and richly flavored grapes. Aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries and strawberries abound in this elegant and silky wine.

This Burgundy native is known as one of the world's major reds. In Italy, Pinot Noir (also named Pinot Nero) is planted primarily in the north. Aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries and strawberries abound in this elegant and silky wine. Our Sonoma Carneros Pinot Noir vineyard is planted on a Southwest facing hillside in rocky soil. The limited yield is meager but the flavors are intense. The Carneros region is very cool with moderating temperatures caused by its proximity to the San Pablo Bay. The Carneros growing conditions are appreciated for the fine quality of Pinot Noir it produces.
