Jacques et François Lurton Malbec Piedra Negra 2007

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Lurtonandrsquo;s 2007 Piedra Negra Malbec was sourced from a single vineyard in Vista Flores. It was fermented with native yeasts and aged for 18 months in first use French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it delivers an expressive bouquet of toasty oak, pencil lead, lavender, exotic spices, incense, plum, blueberry, and black cherry confiture. Medium- to full-bodied, dense, and richly fruity, this plush offering will be at its best from 2013 to 2022.

Full red-ruby. Musky aromas of woodsmoke, tobacco and iron. Silky, sexy and dry, with very good breadth to the flavors of redcurrant and spicy oak. Not at all a black fruit style; in fact, a tad green for a red wine from this ripe year. But nonetheless quite smooth and persistent, with lingering notes of licorice and herbs.
