Jacob's Creek Shiraz Reserve 2004
RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
Heavily oaked. With a little decanting this wine will most likely even out.
Lots of typical Shiraz flavor. Fruity and spicy with a nice medium length finish. Add to the great price and you find a pretty good wine.
Very spicy up front and very fruity on the tongue - this would probably be a hard wine to pair, though. I think if I got it again I'd try it with a fairly pungent cheese... but I don't know if I'd buy a bottle again on purpose.
Popped and poured. Nose is fairly weak. A hint of smoke, pepper and blackberry. Has some heat. Should probably be decanted. Somewhat bitter flavor. Fruit is not bad though. For $10, it's a nice choice, but I've definitely had much better Shiraz. Even at this price point. Good/Very Good - 85 points
