Jacob's Creek Riesling 2008

Faint straw color. Nose is intriguing: aroma of mild rubber, drying soil after a rain, and very mild resin. OK, it's stinky, but my breakdown is honest. On the attack continued with mild rubber flavor, mild citrus, becoming sour apple as wine moved to the mid-palate. Smooth and round. Finish is mostly acidic, not too much flavor or too long. Evoked good conversation. Wonder why the odd mix of aromas, any ideas?

This is the low-end Jacob’s Creek Riesling. I purchased at $4.95 this spring. Pale yellow- green color with aromas of citrus and petrol. It is medium-dry with a taste that is acidic, a bit sour, and dominated by lemon/lime citrus flavors. While it isn’t exactly plonk, it isn’t exactly a memorable wine. If you can’t purchase one of the higher-end Jacob’s Creek Rieslings, serve this in a glass with ice, or use it to make white wine sangria.
