Food Pairings for Jacob's Creek Chardonnay
Editorial Reviews for Jacob's Creek Chardonnay
Very citrussy on the nose with lemon and lime notes and some interesting, starchy green cactus leaf/aloe leaf. There are some hints of oak with perhaps a touch of fennel, but this is rather high toned and fruit driven, if atypical. Rather light bodied on entry, this gains weight in the mouth and shows fine inner mouth tension and a lovely, sleek structure supporting ripe but not weighty fruit. There’s more green on the palate which is not unpleasant, but is unusual in that the citrus fruits are backed with that soft, vegetal tone. The finish is lovely with sour fruits, underlying wood spices and a nice pop of minerality that refreshes the palate. I love the mouth feel here, mostly taut but covered with a gauze of fruit. 88pts

Pale yellow. Initially dry, somewhat flinty, tropical fruits topped off with a limey citrus finish. The oak is very subtle, coming through only with a slight hint of smokiness. An easy drinking refreshing white wine.
2007 Jacob's Creek/Orlando Chardonnay Reserve. Decent Aussie chardonnay although a bit heavy on the oak. More on the earthy side, not as acidic or fruity as most Australian chards. May be due to the age of this bottle, probably past its prime.
Very heavily oaked, with vanilla and caramel flavors. Simple, with green apples as the dominant flavor.

A cool moist winter continued into Spring and was followed by fine weather during flowering. This resulted in higher than expected yields and a slightly late harvest. A warm dry Summer ensured disease free Chardonnay grapes, and fine weather during the harvest season allowed grapes to ripen under ideal conditions. These factors produced Chardonnay grapes with rich and fresh varietal flavours.
Medium straw color with deep vibrant green hues. The bouquet is of rich peach-melon fruit with a very subtle hint of oak and buttery complexity. On the palate, ripe peach-melon fruit flavors with a silky, creamy, full texture balanced by a soft fresh acid finish.
Jacob's Creek has recently dialed back the use of oak and malolactic fermentation in their chardonnay—hallelujah!—and this allows the fruit to shine through, and it does. It's packed with so many fruit flavors—white peaches, nectarines, honeydews, and cantaloupes—that one might easily assume it's a semi-sweet wine, but it's not; it's entirely dry, with a crisp, zesty, citrus-driven finish.
Ripe pineapple flavors fill this simple, straightforward, juicy white. It's clean and balanced, and not sweet. A great buy at $8.
Light and refreshing, appealing for its bright nectarine, lemon and apricot flavors. Drink now.
Crisp and lively, with modest but pretty peach and floral flavors, finishing dry. Drink now.
Has feminine, talc and floral aromas, and sour, citrusy yellow fruit flavors. Mouthfeel is wine and somewhat viscous. it grows leaner on the finish, with citrus peel and fresh green-produce flavors.
Colour: Pale straw with attractive green hues. Bouquet: Refreshing lemon citrus intermingled with some white peach and delicate floral aromas. Palate: Generous zesty lemon and citrus fruit flavours, enhanced with creamy characters. A light refreshing palate with a clean soft finish. Serving suggestion: Serve chilled. Enjoy with oysters with lemon, or deep fried whitebait with aioli.
