J Vineyards Pinot Gris Russian River Valley 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

2007 J Pinot GrisRussian River ValleyThe Vineyards The 2007 J Pinot Gris is a wonderful blend of 100% Pinot Gris fruit from the unique growing regions of the Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Santa Barbara appellations. Most of the fruit for this wine comes from our own Cooper and River Road Vineyards, and from long time relationships with Saralee's and Preston Vineyards. The cool region and well-drained soils of these vineyards help to ripen the grapes slowly, allowing fully mature flavors to develop while preserving a crisp elegance. WinemakingWhole grape clusters were hand-harvested, and then pressed gently into J's Coquard press. The gentle press minimizes the extraction of harsh components from the skins of the grapes and allows the varietals true expression to reveal itself. Ageing Each wine lot was kept separate and fermented slowly at cool temperatures in stainless steel with a wide variety of yeasts. This gentle treatment allowed each lot to develop a unique profile preserving the integrity of the Pinot Gris fruit. Tasting NotesThe 2007 J Pinot Gris leads with fruit aromas of honeysuckle, orange blossom, peach and star jasmine. On the palate, flavors echo the nose, exploding with white peach, ripe Asian pear, warm cinnamon, with a bright, lively, crisp acidity. Its refined texture and balanced acidity make this Pinot Gris an ideal wine to pair with a variety of foods. Try it with a Scallop Ceviche with Grapefruit and Avocado. A 25-year legacy of making exceptional wines to inspire in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. www.JWine.com As a gutsy 25-year old woman, Judy Jordan set out on a quest to create her vision of the perfect sparkling wine. Her journey took her to Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley where she and her team masterfully crafted an elegant sparkling wine collection that was met with a passionately loyal following. Judy was inspired by Mother Nature's bounty of microclimates laced throughout J's 9 Russian River vineyards, and recognized the ability to also craft remarkable still wines. When people told her it was "impossible" for a sparkling wine house to make great still wine, it further fueled her competitive nature to bring the ultimate wine experience to life. With a commitment to innovation and a passion for wine, today we are proud to produce award-winning sparkling wines as well as highly lauded varietal still wines. www.jwine.com www.jvineyards.blogspot.com www.twitter.com/JWinery Facebook: www.facebook.com/JWinery Read less

A rich sleek white with the gentleness of coastal rain. J's Pinot gris has simple flavors of the grape and nutty lees. It ends on a tart lemon note.
