206 J VIOGNIER ~ HOOT OWL CREEK VINEYARD ~ ALEXANDER VALLEYThe VineyardThe 2006 J Viognier is made entirely of Viognier grapes from the Hoot Owl Creek Vineyard in Alexander Valley. ProcessingWhole grape clusters were hand-harvested, then pressed gently in J's Coquard press. This uniquely gentle press minimizes the extraction of harsh components from the skins of the grapes. AgeingThe free run juice was kept seperate from the press during fermentation. A variety of yeasts were used to tease different aromas from the aromatic juice. It was all fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fresh, unique aromas of this varietal. It was bottled shortly after fermentation to capture the fruit at it's peak. Tasting NotesThis wine displays J's signature style: fresh fruit aromas of kiwi, tangerine, pineapple, cantaloupe, and guava; floral aroma of citrus blossom, all encased in light vanilla and honey. The heady aroma leads the way to a full, lush mouth with silky vanilla, and fresh tropical fruits. This wine is no wallflower, it was kissed by the Sonoma sun and is as vibrant and outgoing as the people who made it.
