Spicy raspberry nose. Palate filled with dark cherry, cola and spice. Nice! - Tasted at winery Feb 2011
Selected grape clusters were hand harvested at night to ensure fresh fruit character. While still cool, the fruit was hand sorted, gently destemmed and gravity fed into our open-top fermenters for whole-berry fermentation. Daily tastings determined the precise balance of fruit and tannins before the wine went to barrel. Our minimalist approach in making Pinot Noirs is designed to yield a wine that reflects, in both aroma and flavor, the location in which it was grown.
The 2008 J Vineyards “Sonoma Coast” Pinot Noir captures the essence of cool-climate, site-specific Pinot Noir. This is a luxurious wine bursting with concentrated aromas of blueberries, truffles and rose petals. Featuring a lusciously rich body and lively acidity, nuances of tart cherry, strawberry and mint intermingle with caramel, vanilla, cardamom, clove, and cinnamon. This velvety wine pairs well with an earthy mushroom soup or a filet of salmon, brushed lightly with extra virgin olive oil, and baked on a cedar or oak wood plank.
