J Vineyards & Winery Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2008
Selected grape clusters were hand harvested at night to ensure fresh fruit character. While still cool, the fruit was hand sorted, gently destemmed and gravity fed into our open-top fermenters for whole-berry fermentation. Daily tastings determined the precise balance of fruit and tannins before the wine went to barrel. Our minimalist approach in making Pinot Noirs is designed to yield a wine that reflects, in both aroma and flavor, the location in which it was grown.
Editorial Reviews for J Vineyards & Winery Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast
Intensely aromatic with lovely notes of green nuts, honeycomb, wild flowers, fennel pollen, green anise seed, brie rind and jammy green plum with a hint of gooseberry. Large scaled with a super fine mousse, this is creamy and broad with complex leesy flavors of smoke, nuts, caramel and even a hint of vanilla under rich citrus, quince, green plum, apricot and raw almond flavors. The finish is tense, if a little subtle, and fairly long. Refined and complex, this deserves to be served with dinner. 94pts
Minerally and buttery on the nose with a real creamy appeal. In the mouth this has an elegant texture and fine mousse with flavors of green melon and citrus delivered in a very linear style that is layered and richly flavored. Great length on the finish which shows a hint of red fruits on the final. 91pts
