User Reviews for J Vineyards & Winery Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Robert Thomas

Winemaker's Notes:

Selected grape clusters were hand harvested at night to ensure fresh fruit character. While still cool, the fruit was hand sorted, gently destemmed and gravity fed into our open-top fermenters for whole-berry fermentation. Daily tastings were made to determine the precise balance of fruit and tannins before the wine went to barrel. Our minimalist approach to making Pinot Noir is designed to yield a wine that reflects, in both aroma and flavor, the location in which it was grown.

Tasting Notes:

The 2008 Robert Thomas Pinot Noir features rose petal, violet and subtle vanilla toasty aromas. Earthy, ripe strawberry, cherry, and nuances of cranberry fill your mouth with silkiness balanced by a nice acidity. The fruit is gracefully layered with medium tannins that carry through to a lengthy finish lush with caramel and vanilla. This silky wine pairs well with broiled stuffed mushrooms, loaded with red peppers and crab meat.
