Bright ripe cherry aromas. Classic flavors, fresh, clean and bright. Easy drinking, refreshing. I enjoyed this wine from nose to finish -- it's just a clean, well produced wine that would be great for every day drinking. Nice warm finish.

Red berry with a slight must smell, tobacco, pepper, cherry. Tart cherry in the mouth with some noticeable acidity. Medium bodied and relatively smooth, though with an unpleasant bitterness on the back.

This three years young Rhone blend (grenache/syrah/mouvedre/carignan) steps out of the bottle with raging ripe cherries and a stiff, warm nose. The first glass evolved little over the half hour I spent hovering over it. Meanwhile, the rest of its bottle brethren sat breathing in a nice fat-bottomed decanter. Thus, now halfway through the bottle, the nose still opens up into bright cherries, but softens into subtle summer asphalt, blueberry, lavender, spiced vanilla, and light cigarbox notes. On the palate the wine is certainly dry and tannic, but not sloppy (though the slightest bit overzealous). The fruit is bright and light from the start like the initial nose, but the earthy tones dominate the notes of the finish (not much), which is short in taste and high in astringency and acidity (pleasantly so). This value buy surpassed my expectations, impressed through its youth, suggested some aging potential, and made my night. I'd imagine it'd pair well with gamey meats and cheeses, mushrooms, truffles, beets and the like, so as to battle with the bright fruit and accentuate the subtle earth. I recommend this rhone darling not to disappoint.

well, this is my favourite wine for everyday (almost...). It is perfect with meat, Thai food, Indian food, cheese, bien sur... It cost a mere 20A$ in Sydney by the bottle and you can easily save up to 30% in a dozen. To upgrade and stay in the Rhone Valley, you would have to spend twice as much for a St Joseph, a Chateunuef-du-Pape or a Gigondas or even more for a Cote Rotie... This wine has a nice deep garnet color, with enough transluceny to see flashes of light through it when the light hits it right. Very pretty. It's nose presents charcoal and smoke with a slightly spicy aroma. At first you taste a spicy strawberry with a touch of smoke. It doesn't last long but it leaves behind a touch of strawberry. This is a smooth wine without a lot of tannins. I personally think that this would be great paired with cheeses or lamb. I also think that this is a great value as it can be found around $12 per bottle.
