J.P. Chenet Cabernet Sauvignon-Syrah 2012

Member Review by duncan 906:

I got given this bottle of wine a while ago but have only now got around to drinking it.J.P. Chenet is a French wine brand used on several different wines that claims to be the most sold French wine in the world. It is distinguished by a unique bottle shape with a twisted neck called a Josephine. The grapes are sourced from co-operatives in the south of France. In short this is a mass market wine. My bottle is a blend of cabernet sauvignon and syrah but I do not know in what proportions.I started my bottle last night with my supper of bacon stew and I did enjoy it.There is plenty of a blackcurrant and plum style fruit there with a hint of spice. The tannins were quite noticeable but they had softened up considerably the following evening.Overall I think this is reasonable quality at a value for money price [though I do not know how much my benefactor paid ]

The N°1 French wine brand in the world! Following his artistic and entrepreneurial spirit, in 1984 Joseph Helfrich designed a bottle with a revolutionary shape. He named it Joséphine. It stood out from the crowd with its original curves, slanted neck and generous body. It represented a genuine challenge at the time as a special bottling chain needed to be built for it. The first brand of French wine was born and its name was JP Chenet. To set itself even further apart from the far too traditional French market, JP Chenet focused its communication on the grape variety rather than the appellation. The success of our brand is intimately associated with its capacity for innovation. We were the frontrunners of French branded wines and thanks to the hard work of our teams, J.P Chenet is the best-selling French wine in the world. In the 160 countries where it has a presence, the brand conveys the image of a modern French wine adapted to the habits of the markets. Read less

Fruity with a hint of spice, this is a really nice wine in a really nice bottle. I drink this watching tv or with vegetable lasagne. Yummy.

Great bottle. Lacks substance but has pleasant aroma. Doesn't taste as cheap as it could!

In april 2011 nog gedronken. De smaak is nog uitstekend evenals de afdronk. Geode kwaliteit voor een schappelijke prijs.
