J. Lohr Estates Seven Oaks Cabernet(2005)

VINTAGE The 2005 harvest concluded a drought spanning several years. The grapevines seemed to awaken with enthusiasm. Not only did the vines respond with a healthy crop, the grapes were full of bold and generous varietal and regional expression, highlighting the dark cherry and black currant fruit that is the hallmark of this great Cabernet winegrowing region. The lengthy harvest occurred over a 30-day window from September 27th to October 27th. The 2005 harvest will certainly be remembered for its abundant yields, but more importantly, for its underlying depth of fruit. CABERNET SAUVIGNON read more...

A lot of vanilla coming through on the nose and palate from the oak, this is a good thing for me but not so good for some. However I feel that the mid-palate is a little hollow and if those vanilla flavours weren't present there would be nothing at all. I think this is very enjoyable as an everyday quaffer and would purchase this wine again.
