Big black currant and black plum fruit greet the nose over black olive, bay leaf, roast beef, tobacco and mint nuances. This is dry, linear and compact on entry with a lovely brambly black currant perfume. There's plenty of tannins here but they're not too dry and they are well covered by the earthy, slightly leather black fruits on the palate. Bordering on austere, this delivers a really compelling blend of savory olive and tobacco flavors along with the ripe and almost, but not quite, sweet black fruit. The finish is dominated by that same black fruit with oak spice lurking under the fruit. Not as long as one might hope but still lovely with a wild cherry streak running through it that pops on the finale. 92pts

Opaque core with a purple rim. The nose showcases aromas of cedar, baking spice, dark black fruit and crème de cassis.
