What to Expect

Oregon has only recently emerged as a source for premium wine and is winning fans over to their somewhat earthy style of Pinot Noir. With vineyards a bit cooler than most of California's, yet warmer still than Burgundy, Oregon's Pinot Noirs feature a synthesis of ripe fruit, ripe structure and transparency that draws on the strengths of both. The wines tend to have a touch of earthiness and a sense of transparency that many Pinots from California lack yet the fruit profile, full of dark berries, is decidedly warm-climate in nature.

Really fantastic nose on this one and wonderfully complex. Definitely benefits from some air. An excellent Oregon pinot if you can get your hands on it!

J K Carriere Willamette Valley Pinot noir is a ripe, juicy, black fruit driven wine with hints of cherry, vanilla peach, red currant, grilled meat and licorice.
J K Carriere's 06 Willamette Valley Pinot noir is a blend of some of Oregon's best vineyards. 27 year old vines in the Temperance Hill vineyard brought old-vine complexity. Nine year old Shea Vineyard vines added ripe dark fruit, while Eola Hills fruit added cherry flavors. Anderson Family Vineyard added structure, and Gemini Vineyard red fruit flavors. Eight year old Dijon clone Pinot noir from Momtazi contributed sweet spice.
