Cask sample. Very smoky/reductive light note of rubber but not unpleasant especially when you can imagine where the wine is going once it is bottled. Fine bright apricot fruit. It is sweet but somehow you hardly notice the sweetness within the harmony of fruit and acidity and minerality. Dense but very light on its feet. Long. 17/20 VGV (JH) Jancis Robinson.

Heady violet and stone fruit aromas are swathed in fresh, green herbs on the nose of this honeyed, elegantly fruity kabinett. Brisk acidity reverberates on the palate, where sweet fruit then mixes with a long, mineral-tinged finish. Drink now through 2014 to maximize its fresh, floral exuberance.

This features ripe lime and slate notes on an elegant frame, with lively hints of white chocolate and vanilla. The rich finish of peaches and cream is accented by light, smoky notes. Drink now through 2020.

A racy style, with flinty notes to the fresh-cut apple and crunchy peach flavors, matched to a slightly viscous salinity. Lemon zest lingers on the well-structured finish, revealing hints of passion fruit. Drink now through 2020.

Ample aromas of fresh apple tropical fruit and lemon oil. Honeyed and rich but with a delicacy to its papaya fruit this spatlese is kept alive by its understated acidity. Conveys a clear refreshing slate character on the spicy finish. 91+ Stephen Tanzers IWC.

From a mixture of Bernkastel and Graach sites plus a bit of Wehlen, the generic Prum 2011 Riesling Kabinett displays aromas already way above its station in complexity, featuring penetrating and metaphorically cooling scents of spearmint, apple blossom, fresh apple, cherry and lime, all of which - along with lusciously-dripping honeydew melon - then figure on a delicately refreshing, subtly spritzy palate that finishes with mouthwatering juiciness and impeccably-integrated, entirely discreet residual sugar. This fine value - whose May bottling, incidentally, was the estate's first - will deliver delightful satisfaction for at least a dozen years. Heady aromas of rose petal, red berry and tropical fruit lend an unusual expressiveness to this delicately framed kabinett. Dainty and dancing, the texture is almost ethereal, finishing long, with a lacy swath of berries and blossoms.
