Light and slightly peachy on the nose with a sweet apple underlay and nice hints of river stones. A touch sweetly fruited on entry with creamy, fairly apple core of fruit. A bit simple, if fresh, and easy to drink. 86pts

Subtly sweet on the nose with hints of pine nuts, bergamot tea, dried mushroom and lichen covered rocks topped with some fine sage, smoke and maduro tobacco notes. elegant and tense in the mouth, there are some fine tannins here keeping this firm on the palate which delivers lovely layered black tea, dried cranberry, and softly toasty oak spice. The back end shows more of a mineral bent with the tannins showing a touch of angularity before leading to the precise tart red fruited finish which is a little spicy, gently earthy and attractive long, ending with a sweet/earthy burst of carob tinged rooibos tea like flavor. Complex, refined and elegant, the earthiness here will not be to everyone’s liking but this is a lovely wine. 92pts

Lightly smoky on the nose and gently oaky with a backdrop of gently leafy tones to the sweet red currant fruit. On the palate this exhibits a firm bed of fine grained tannins. The mouthfeel is a bit lean and quite focused with mineral and soil driven flavors that lead to a slightly meaty, cherry skin finish. This is a bit small and quite jewel like in the mouth, deserving of some simple food. 91pts

The nose showed under ripe peach, hints of citrus and spring floral notes. On the palate, it was fresh and vibrant with a hint of sweetness and flavors of green apple, sweet spice and inner floral notes. The refreshing finish had a spritz of citrus and remained enjoyable throughout.

Intense ruby-red color, medium-high consistency, fruity aromas which struck your nose with a good complexity and endurance. Nice tasting: very harmonious, balanced, with a good body and persistence.

Tasted vintage 2001 (in Summer 2008). One of the best Italian Gewurtztraminers. Very well structured. Luscious palate; dense and long. Still has a little bit of acidity that makes it very drinkable. Age at least six years.

One of the best I've ever tasted! Excellent choice for a New Years Eve dinner.

The color was dark, almost black, with bright purple edges. Te cork was almost black, with wine almost half an inch up the edges.Right out the bottle this wine had a huge nose of blueberry, burnt caramel and vanilla. The palate started with bright red fruits and cranberries, followed by a touch of mint and some orange peel. Mild velvety tannins only showed up at the finish, which dropped quickly but not entirely, lingering with berries and cream. This is a very good wine and at a very good price. I am curious to see if it opens more overnight and becomes something extraordinary.Second night. Now it is a softer, more balanced, mature-tasting wine. Four or five hours open, plus a night under the Vacuu-Vin, have the same effect as several hours of decanting, giving just enough instant-aging to give you an idea how it might change with more cellar time. The nose with not as explosive, but surrendered more layers, including dark cherry, plum, cloves, black pepper and, at the end, a touch of mint. The palate changed rom last night's slightly acidic red fruits to softer black ones, including blackberry and black cherries, plus cloves and lavendar. About an hour after re-opening it started with cocoa and black fruit, followed by the tarter cherries, cloves, and florals. Tannins were far less obvious on the much softer finish. This was a good wine, an interesting wine, offering plenty of tastes and layers. Based upon its changes overnight, I also think it could benefit from another year or two, not much more, in the cellar.

Just right and ready to drink. Great bottle to turn you into a lover of Lagrein. Vibrant acidity and medium body, a great food wine that refreshes the palette with strawberry and plums. Gorgeous fresh finish.

A lively ruby red color. It has exuberant and fresharomas reminiscent of woodland berry fruits and cherry forming a harmonious bouquet, rich and elegant on the palate. It is well-balanced, medium bodied with rich flavors and a lasting finish.

Helles Rubin, granatfarbene Reflexe.

J Hofstatter Pinot Nero Meczan 2008 750mlThe color is a translucent crimson/ruby. Elegant but concentrated palate, lightish body. Corrupt cherries, a touch of wood. This wine is a total winner and would basically go with anything, but would be best with a rustic, northern italian dish
