Why? New vintage release. Hurry because Wine Spectator just rated this vintage an Outstanding 91+ points. Review below.
PORTHOS INSIDER SCOOP: This very special wine combines two of our team favorites; winemaker Jeff Cohn (also Rosenblums winemaker) and Syrah fruit sourced from Fess Parkers (yes, THAT Fess Parker!) private vineyard in Santa Barbara. This is a tremendously tasty new discovery that we were recommending to insiders even before the new Robert Parker rating so jump on the bandwagon NOW.
THE WINE INSIDERS OUTSTANDING 94 RATING: read more...A flamboyant and enormously mouth-filling wine. Inky black, it reveals terrific concentration, with a wide array of lush and powerful flavors that include vanilla oak, boysenberry, and pomegranate then crescendo with a long finish that includes slightly toasted oak combined with a hint of delicious dark chocolate and mocha. This is one of the finest California Syrah weve ever discovered in this price range and worthy of a special glass tonight as well as cellaring through 2012.
WINE SPECTATOR "OUTSTANDING 91" RATING: Generous ripe, juicy black cherry and blackberry fruit is at the core of this full bodied effort, with hints of mineral, spice and floral scents. Elegant and stylish. Drink now through 2012.
