The concept and style of Cepparello was developed by Paolo De Marchi over a period beginning in the mid 1970s. The wine is named after a small stream, Borro Cepparello, originating in the highest point of the vineyards on the Isole e Olena estate. After barrel aging in French and American oak for 14 to 18 months, it is then aged in the bottle for one year before release. The wine is dense and intense but has a subtle finesse that frames lovely, dense, black fruit purity. It exhibits a lively color, fresh aromatics and a nuanced personality. It boasts layers of vibrant fruit intermingled with subtle mineral and licorice notes, showing outstanding length on the palate and fine, noble tannins.
